- Year 9 – AQA specification. 3 lessons a fortnight. Lessons will be a mixture of practical and theory.
- Year 10/11 – AQA specification. 4 lessons a fortnight. Lessons will be a mixture of practical and theory.
The course is broken down into the following:
- 30% practical assessment in 3 activities in the AQA specification over the 3 years
- 10% performance analysis assessment – this is written coursework in y11
- 60% 2 theory exams

- Y12 & 13. 4 units over 2 years – 8 lessons a week.
- Unit 1: Anatomy and physiology. – exam externally set
- Unit 2: Fitness testing & programming. – exam externally set
- Unit 3: Sports industry. – coursework internally set and marked
- Unit 6: Sports psychology. – coursework internally set and marked.
Students studying this course will also attend a residential at Derby looking at the sports industry in action. Visiting St George’s Park, Derby University, Derby Velodrome and Derby County F.C as part of the NCS program.
