At Biddenham we understand that it can be daunting for parents to move from having one teacher to contact in primary school, to a range of teachers in secondary school.
We have put together the Starting Secondary School Booklet to support you and your child during this transition phase, with school specific information to help you contact the right person with any questions you may have. You can also contact enquires@biddenham.beds.sch.uk and we will respond at our earliest convenience.
Who do we contact in school during transition?
Please see the information below to support you in finding the right person to contact. During the transition process from primary to secondary school the main contact will be:
Miss Copley
Assistant Headteacher
Outreach, Partnership
and Community
You will then be introduced to your child’s form tutor who will become the first point of contact.
Typical Transition Programme from Year 6 into Year 7
Transition will be a slightly different experience for every child joining us and it is based on the needs of the individual. Examples of what they might be involved in are:
During the transfer days your child will have the opportunity to meet their class form tutor and some subject teachers. This will give them a taste of what it will be like but not feel overwhelmed. Examples might include Science experiments in one of the labs, Sports lessons in the sports hall or on the astro turf or Drama in the drama studio with stage lighting. These opportunities will put worries to rest and excitement to flourish in preparation for September.
