Biddenham is an 11-19, oversubscribed school that, as we expand, is entering the next phase of its development. Due to our popularity, and as part of our £4.5 million building programme, we need to grow and strengthen our already high performing staff team who, by 2025, will be working with 1600 students.

We seek to appoint a well-qualified, creative and inspirational Teacher of Food to start September 2023. The ability to teach either of the following second subject areas; Design Technology and/or Health & Social Care would be an advantage.
At Biddenham, we are keen to raise the profile of Food as a subject and a fresh approach and innovative ideas are a must. The successful candidate will join a small, friendly team which is supported by an experienced Food Technician. Food is taught as a compulsory subject in years 7 and 8. The lessons are themed to support the creative curriculum on a half termly rotation model. GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition is studied across years 9 to 11.
Students are given time and encouragement to develop their practical skills and to explore their creativity. In addition to timetabled hours, we offer support sessions after school each week. This allows students to revisit what they have learnt and either improve or catch-up on their controlled assessment assignments. At least 50% of the time is devoted to students developing and practising their practical skills.
The successful candidate will be an excellent and approachable classroom practitioner, able to adapt learning in order to secure the best outcomes for all learners and someone who has strong interpersonal skills and a passion for making a difference to young peoples’ lives.
