Teacher of MFL (German/French)

Job Title:
Teacher of MFL

Contract and Hours:
MPS/UPS, Full-time, Permanent

Description
Biddenham is an 11-19, oversubscribed school that, as we expand, is entering the next phase of its development. Due to our popularity, and as part of our £4.5 million building programme, we need to grow and strengthen our already high performing staff team who, by 2025, will be working with 1600 students. To that end, we are looking to appoint an inspiring, enthusiastic and committed teacher of German and French to join our MFL department. Within the department we have the potential to fully support Early Careers Teachers beginning their teaching career.

At Key Stage 3, we offer a creative curriculum, as part of our unique connected curriculum. In year 7 students are introduced to German and encouraged to develop skills that will provide grounding in languages. They learn to communicate in German by being given a range of tasks with a real purpose with the view of helping them to develop their language learning skills, language awareness, cultural awareness and the ability to work both with others and independently. In year 8 students carry on studying German more in depth. In addition, some students are given the opportunity to study French alongside German. In year 9, they are able to choose between French, German and Spanish to study for GCSE.

The ability to teach German and French across Key Stage 3 and 4, is desirable. There is the scope to offer a more experienced teacher A-level teaching in German and French and for the right candidate to progress and assume additional responsibilities within the school or department.

If you were to be successful, you will be joining a school that is at the heart of the community it serves and has been making a transformative difference to the current and future lives of its students. You will join a wider dedicated team of teachers and staff at an exciting time of growth and expansion for the school. We are committed to providing access to technology for all by providing chromebooks to all of our students and staff and developing innovative blended learning approaches to teaching.

The successful candidate will be an excellent and approachable classroom practitioner, able to adapt learning in order to secure the best outcomes for all learners and someone who has strong interpersonal skills and a passion for making a difference to young peoples’ lives.

As a school we offer:

Biddenham – ‘Opening Minds – Transforming Lives’.
