Level & Salary:
Biddenham International School is a thriving, multi-cultural, 11-19 school of 1280 students which is rated ‘Good’ in all areas by Ofsted in March 2019. The school has a student centred focus and chromebooks are used by all students to support daily learning.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic music teacher who is familiar with Kodaly musicianship, Sibelius, Flat.io and Band Lab to help support our busy and creative music department.
The successful candidate will join our friendly, well qualified and collaborative Performing Arts Faculty which is supported by a Performing Arts Technician. The post holder requires strong subject knowledge across performance, musicianship, theory, and composition with experience of teaching KS3 Music and GCSE (Eduqas).
Music is an important part of school life and integral to school events such as musical theatre productions, recital nights and celebrations. Music is taught for an hour a week throughout the school year as a compulsory subject in years 7 and 8. This is then followed by Eduqas GCSE music. We offer inclusive instrumental lessons on a wide variety of instruments and offer extra-curricular opportunities through ensembles such as choir and ukulele club. We regularly collaborate with national and local arts organisations such as The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Orchestras for All, Bedford Music Hub and Bedford Orchestral and Choral Societies.
The school sees the form tutor as a key role in the support, development and welfare of the students and teachers are expected to undertake this role with the same standards and commitment as their subject role.
The successful candidate must be a well-qualified and professional classroom practitioner who is enthusiastic about their work with young people and have a genuine concern for their development as individuals. The ability to teach additional subjects would be desirable.
This is a great opportunity to contribute to an energetic department and ECTs will be considered.
