In order to make food technology cost effective for parents /carers we have a system in place to ensure every child has the opportunity to access basic ingredients from school but also allowing the independence of adding extra personalised ingredients.
For year 7 students we will provide all of the ingredients that they need for the three dishes they are cooking in each rotation (each term)
For year 8 students, we would like to encourage them to become more independent. For this reason we will provide the core ingredients such as Eggs, Flour and Milk however students will be expected to provide the main ingredients for their dish. For example, the Protein element. Students will be provided with a recipe booklet, which will enable them to plan ahead. If the dish is vegetarian based, school will provide all of the ingredients.
For the Spring term (January- April) we will require the below payment in order to cover the ingredient costs for the three dishes, please can you pay this via the parent pay account.
Year 7- £4.80 for all ingredients.
Year 8- £5.00 for all core ingredients.
Please note that this fee does not include containers for students to bring their dishes home, therefore please ensure your child has the appropriate tupperware container needed to transport goods to and from school.
We will send out another letter regarding the costs for the Summer term before the Easter Holidays. If there are any problems, or if you would like more information, please do not hesitate to contact the Food Department.
