“It doesn’t matter what your background is or where you came from. If you have dreams and goals, that’s all that matters.” - Serena Williams

Department Overview

The PE department aims to provide a challenging, disciplined, enjoyable and safe environment in which our staff, who have a wide range of knowledge and expertise, offer high quality learning and teaching.

Our curriculum offers a personalised learning experience for all. Students take part in core PE lessons from year 7 to 11 for two hours per week. In addition, once a week, we provide sport and wellbeing to all year 12 and 13 students.

We also offer GCSE PE starting in year 9, which allows students to receive further curriculum time to study this option alongside their core PE lessons.

At key stage 5 students can study Level 3 BTEC Sport Extended Certificate.

The PE curriculum also incorporates PSHE. This aims to give children the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy and independent lives. These include introduction to first aid, CPR, hygiene, anxiety and accessibility to sports clubs.

Involvement in extra-curricular activities is an important part of our department and school. We are committed to helping students maximise their potential both inside and outside of the classroom for lifelong activity.
