The English department has arranged for year 11 and 12 students to attend a writing workshop at The Guardian newspaper offices in London on 23rd November 2023. The workshop will provide the opportunity to improve the writing of ‘opinion pieces’ (a type of writing that features in GCSE and A-level examinations) whilst also providing an insight into the inner workings of a national broadsheet newspaper.
Students are to meet at school at 8.00am. We will then walk to Bedford train station to travel to London St. Pancras at 8.30am. We aim to return to Bedford station at 2.30pm. Students will then make their own way home. Students will be accompanied by two members of staff from the English department. Students are to be in school uniform and should bring a packed lunch, water and snacks.
The cost of this trip is £15.00. Please provide payment and parental consent via your ParentPay account. Places are limited and available on a first come first served basis. Places will be available to book from 10th November.
