London Sinfonietta at The Royal Festival Hall

Dear Parent/Carer

We would like to invite your child to participate in an educational visit to The Royal Festival Hall at London’s South Bank Centre on Wednesday 27th March 2024.  They will be watching a performance given by the professional orchestra, The London Sinfonietta. This trip links to the National Curriculum for Music that students study by fulfilling the following elements:

As well as enhancing their academic achievement in music, it is also a wonderful opportunity to visit London and watch a professional and engaging performance.

We will be travelling to London by train.  Students will not attend school on this day and instead will meet at Bedford Railway Station at 8.30am.  We will take the train to London Blackfriars and walk across the South Bank to The Royal Festival Hall.

We will return to Bedford Railway Station at 2.10pm where students will need to be collected by their parents/carers. Students are to wear full school uniform and will need to bring with them a packed lunch and bottle of water. Students in receipt of free school meals will be provided with a school lunch. It may be cold and we will be walking, a coat is recommended.  (An umbrella, hat etc is advised if wet weather is forecast).

The cost of this trip is £19.00.

On the day, there may be opportunities to purchase snacks and merchandise at the concert hall.  Students may bring a small amount of pocket money.  Any money or personal items (such as mobile phones) will need to be looked after by the children themselves.  Mobile phones are to be switched off for the duration of the performance.

Please provide payment and parental consent for this trip via ParentPay.

Yours Sincerely,

Dr Murphy
