Dear Parent/Carer,

I am pleased to inform you that your child has been invited to visit the Wellcome Genome Campus in Hinxton, Cambridgeshire, on Wednesday 20th March.

The Wellcome Genome Campus undertakes genomic and biodata research. They provide bioinformatics resources for the global scientific community and deliver vital training in genomics and biodata to scientists and clinicians. They are at the interface of research and industry, translating science into tangible societal benefits. The purpose of the visit is to provide students with an opportunity to:

• Meet Genome researchers and discuss the industry
• Experience one of the world’s largest DNA sequencing and biodata facilities
• Explore the stories of genomics research and discuss the social impact of genetics

We will travel to and from the venue by minibus, departing Biddenham at 09.30am. Students are not permitted to drive themselves to the venue, as this is in breach of our risk assessment. We should return to Biddenham by approximately 2:35pm dependent on traffic.

Students must bring a packed lunch and a water bottle.
