Track to the future – Network Rail work experience

March 2024

Dear Parent/Carer,

Track to the future – Network Rail work experience

Your child has been invited to attend the Network Rail ‘Track to the future’ work experience workshops, which will take place over 4 weeks on a Wednesday. Two sessions are at school and two are at the Network Rail head office in Milton Keynes.

The four-part workshops see mentors from Network Rail support students through interactive and engaging sessions exploring the rail industry, specifically the project management, engineering or technology streams. The aim and purpose of the programme is for students to develop core transferable skills such as innovation and creativity, while also learning about key Network Rail competencies including accountability, collaboration and responding to challenging situations. This is invaluable experience for those applying for Degree Apprenticeships now or in the future.

The two sessions taking place at the Network Rail head office in Milton Keynes are on:

Wednesday 27th March

Wednesday 17th April

On these days students will travel to Milton Keynes by school minibus, departing Biddenham at 10.15am and returning at 3.15pm. When attending the Milton Keynes sessions, students will be required to bring a packed lunch and water bottle. The Talent Foundry is taking on the expense of this experience and the mini bus will be paid for by Biddenham School. The full schedule is detailed below:

For students that have lessons in Period 3 and 4 on a Wednesday, this will need to be discussed with your teacher. We will, of course, expect excellent behaviour throughout the trip.

Please provide parental consent via your ParentPay account.

If you have any questions about the trip, please contact me at the school.

Yours Sincerely
