Scientific calculators

Dear Parents/Carers,

I am writing to ask you for your support with the use of calculators in Science lessons. We have a very limited stock of scientific calculators in the department, and would therefore value your support in providing your child with their own calculator.

We use calculators frequently in all Sciences for a variety of tasks, so please ensure your child has theirs with them for every Science lesson. If they do not have one, it will mean that they cannot fully access all tasks and could potentially miss out marks in assessments.

Scientific calculators will always be provided for the main exams that take place in the Sports Hall, but not for classroom-based assessments. These assessments are on the school calendar, so please look at this, along with the Google Classroom for the dates of assessments, so your child arrives fully equipped and ready for the test.

You can purchase a scientific calculator at a reasonable price (£6 to £10) at most large supermarkets. If your child does not have one, please purchase one as soon as possible, ready for the final half term.
