Cologne Christmas Market Trip
I am writing to inform you of an exciting study visit to the vibrant city of Cologne organised by the Modern Foreign Languages department for students currently studying GCSE and A Level German.
We will travel by overnight coach to Cologne, departing Biddenham at the end of the school day on Tuesday 17th December and returning on the evening Friday of 20th December.
The purpose of this visit is to help students succeed in the subject by being completely immersed in the German language and culture. The Christmas markets will be spread out all over the city and have a tremendous atmosphere. Each day, students will have a focus on spoken language and culture learning in the shape of intensive speaking work in the hostel before going out to explore. They will also have a set of practical oral tasks to complete. During the evening, meals will be taken in the hostel where there are also lots of recreational facilities for students to enjoy.
We will be staying in the Cologne Riehl youth hostel in multi bedded en-suite accommodation. The total cost of this trip is £420.00. This includes:
- Return coach travel to Cologne
- Half board accommodation
- A trip to the Lindt chocolate museum
- Cologne Cathedral visit
- A visit to the Olympic and Sports museum
- A walking tour of the city and Christmas market visits
If you are eligible for pupil premium funding, this will be allocated after the initial deposit has been paid.
Students should bring additional spending money with them to purchase lunch each day as well as for any other purchases they may wish to make. A detailed itinerary will be issued closer to the date.

This trip will be available to book on ParentPay from 9.00am on Monday 10th June. Places are limited and will be available on a first com first served basis.
