UCAS Exhibition 2024

June 2024

Dear Parent/Carer

UCAS Exhibition 2024

With only six weeks before the end of the school year, it’s time to start thinking about next year and university applications. As part of the process, all students will start a UCAS application in their Skills lessons. This allows your child to collate all their academic achievements and compile a personal statement – this can then be utilised for an apprenticeship application at a later date if this is the route they wish to take.

To that end, we are writing to inform you of two events that have been arranged and it is compulsory that all students attend.

Monday 17th June – Bedfordshire Higher Education and Apprenticeships Convention

We have managed to secure places for all of our year 12 level 3 students in the morning session at the Bedfordshire Higher Education Convention, which is being held at the Polhill Campus at the University of Bedfordshire. This is a large scale event with lots of Universities, Apprenticeships and careers exhibiting. Please see the link for details here. (We have registered students for the event so please do not do so).

Students are to make their own way to the university, for 9.15am, when they will be registered by Biddenham staff. They will also be expected to make their own way home. Should any students anticipate transport difficulties with the journey to the university, they should see Mr Evans as soon as possible.

Tuesday 18th June – Futures Information Evening, 6.30pm, Main Hall

We have organised a Futures Information Evening for students, parents and carers, at which you will be given information on Student Finance, UCAS, apprenticeship opportunities and life away from home.

Our guest speaker will be Anna Gilbert from the University of Leicester. We will also have former students who will talk to you about the different career paths they have followed. In the past, parents and carers have found this evening essential and we very much hope to see you there. Presentations will begin promptly at 6:30pm, with refreshments being served afterwards.

Please provide parental consent via your ParentPay account.

Finally, we’d like to ask a favour from you all, which is; if, through your line of work, you think you would be able to offer any of our Sixth Form students a work experience opportunity, we would love to hear from you.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely
