Greenwich Maritime Museum

Dear Parent/Carer

We will shortly be going on our History trip to Greenwich Maritime Museum on the 9th of July. This letter has the final details to ensure a successful and enjoyable trip for the students. Please read carefully and ask your child to speak to their History teacher if they have any further questions.

Clothing

The trip will be non-uniform, but make sure students wear clothing comfortable for the coach journey and appropriate for the weather. Also be aware, we will be walking around some of the museum sites and therefore appropriate footwear is also important.

Food & Drink

There will not be opportunities for students to buy food/drink, so all students should bring everything they are going to consume with them. No nut products in case of allergies. Those who have lunches provided by the school will have the opportunity to get their packed lunch prior to leaving for the trip. Students should bring a refillable water bottle.  Students will eat lunch at the museum, there is no eating allowed on the coach.

Timings & Medicines

We will be meeting in the Quad at 7:10am so slightly earlier than normal school start. Students will be registered by the staff attending the trip. We politely request that any travel sickness tablets are taken for a 7:30am departure and return journey tablets are also packed. Any medication should be clearly labelled, if you are happy for your child to self-administer they will keep hold of it, otherwise it should be handed in to their group leader whilst being registered. We anticipate arriving back at school between 4:00pm and 4:30pm. If you are collecting your child from school, please arrive by 4:00pm, our return time will be dependent on the traffic on the day.

Contacting on the Day

If you have an emergency during the day, then please contact the school who will be in touch with members of staff on the trip.

Electronic devices and Spending Money

Students are allowed to bring an electronic device, at their own risk, as they are not covered by our school’s insurance. There is a gift shop at the museum, we recommend that students bring no more than £10 as they will be responsible for carrying anything they purchase.

Please see the next page for an itinerary. If you have any questions please do hesitate to get in contact

Yours sincerely
