Bronze Duke of Edinburgh – Expedition

July 2024

Dear Parent/Carer

Bronze Duke of Edinburgh – Expedition

Your child has been undertaking their Skill, Practical and Volunteering section for their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award since September and have already completed most of these. To now gain their Bronze Award they must complete the expedition section. The requirement for this is to complete 1 day of pre expedition training, 1 practice expedition and a 2 day assessed expedition, with a night of camping.

The assessed expedition will take place on Thursday 11th – Friday 12th July. This will involve 2 days of walking with one overnight camping. Students will need to be self-sufficient throughout this time and will need to carry food with them.

Equipment – students are more than welcome to use their own equipment whilst on expedition, however we have managed to acquire some expedition equipment which we are willing to loan out to students, this will be the students responsibility to ensure that the equipment comes back to us as it was given to them. If you require anything from the list attached please let us know and we will try to accommodate this. We have tents and cooking equipment which we will be providing to all groups.

This year we are running the assessed expedition locally to Leslie Sell Activity Centre, this will be at a cost of £15.00

Please complete the consent form and payment via ParentPay no later than 10th July to confirm your child’s place on the expedition.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me,
