Dear Parent/Carer,

RE: GCSE German

As your child embarks on the important process of choosing their GCSE courses, I am writing to let you know that your child has had a very successful year in the Modern Foreign Languages department and has been identified as a student that has the ability to succeed in GCSE German. As a result, we strongly recommend that your child continues studying German as one of their GCSE options for next school year.

At Biddenham, we strongly believe in the importance and value that learning languages offer to our students, as tools for communication in a globalised world, as valuable skills for future employment and as avenues to explore other cultures.

Being able to speak another language is a practical and applicable skill which will allow your child to get more out of life, both personally and professionally, and will develop both social skills and confidence as a communicator.  Moreover, many employers value their employees studying Languages at GCSE level. They provide applicants with an edge over their competitors due to the number of skills acquired through language learning.
