Dear Parent/ Carer,
In order to make Food Technology cost effective for parents/carers we have a system in place to ensure every child has the opportunity to access ingredients from school. Therefore, for all students in year 8 the Food Department will provide all their ingredients and containers for the term.
For the whole school year we will require the one off payment below in order to cover the cost of their ingredients and container, please can you pay this via your parent pay account, under Food Technology, prior to Friday 8th September 2023.
Year 8 – £15.00 This will pay for all ingredients and containers needed for the 3 terms.
Student recipes across the 3 terms are; Poke Bowl, Toad in the Hole, Flatbread with dip, Cheese Swirls, Swiss Roll, Homemade Jam, Wedges and Coleslaw, Vegetable Rice and Ginger Biscuits. In doing these recipes students will learn vital skills in chopping, whisking and blending flavours. They will also prepare students for the content that they study in year 9.
Please note if your child receives free school meals then no payment is required, in any year, as the pupil premium funding covers the cost for these students. Additionally, if payment is not provided then we will assume ingredients and containers will be provided by yourselves. Please get in touch if you would like a list of ingredients and recipes for the year. It is vital that all students partake in practical food lessons as this forms part of the Food National Curriculum.
