Field trip to Sheringham, Norfolk – Thursday 22nd June 2023

May 2023

Dear Parents/Carers

Field trip to Sheringham, Norfolk – Thursday 22nd June 2023

The Geography department would like to thank you for your support for the above trip. This trip is a fantastic opportunity to bring learning alive and hopefully improve your child’s chances of gaining their predicted grade.  This is a compulsory trip and goes towards their GCSE. To allow this to happen we require a contribution of £20 to cover the costs of transportation, insurance and all relevant administration costs. This visit will be an informative and hopefully enjoyable day; especially if we get the weather! The trip will be taking place on Thursday 22nd June 2023.

The structure of the day is outlined in the itinerary table below:

7.00am Meet in the quad for a prompt departure. Failure to arrive on time could result in your child not attending the trip.

10.30am Arrive at Sheringham. Students will be split into groups, each will be assigned to a member of staff where they will complete the data collection methods using their recording booklets (beach profiles, longshore drift, wave count, wind speed and pebble size and shape.

12.30pm – 1pm Lunch. Students will have lunch all together at the agreed meeting point.

1pm – 2.45pm Completion of data collection and field work review.

3pm Depart from Sheringham to arrive back at Biddenham school at approximately

5.30pm/6pm, (traffic permitting).

Students are required to bring a pack lunch and snacks for the day. They can bring spending money if they wish (although this is not a requirement). There are facilities available for students to buy snacks and ice cream (time permitting). They will need comfortable and practical footwear, a waterproof jacket and sun
cream (should the weather be hot!). They will also need their pencil case, a camera (optional), water and a small rucksack to carry all they need.

IMPORTANT:
Please complete the Parental Consent form including payment on Parent Pay no later than Friday 16th June 2022.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely,

Miss E Roberts
