Poetry Live, Cambridge letter – Year 11 students

28th February 2022

Dear Parents, Carers and families

Poetry Live, Cambridge Corn Exchange, Cambridge

The English Department has been able to secure the opportunity to take 40 students to Cambridge to attend the annual Poetry Live! event on 11th March 2022.

This live event provides the opportunity for our students to attend a session led by AQA examiners exploring the Power & Conflict poetry unit of the English Literature GCSE exam. Every year the examiners are joined by some of the poets who feature in the poetry anthology we studied together in Year 10. They often read their poems to the students, share the contexts and their personal influences and the students have an opportunity to ask questions to the poets and the examiners themselves too.

The cost of the trip is £31 this includes coach travel and entry ticket.   If your child would like to attend please pay using your ParentPay account.  If you have not yet set up a ParentPay account please contact bernadette.burnage@mybiddenham.com

As there are only 40 available tickets they will be allocated on a first come first served basis and the tickets will go live on your ParentPay account on Tuesday 1st March 2022.

We expect to leave the school site at 9am on Friday 11th March and we will return to school at approximately 4:30pm.

Yours sincerely

Issy Lilley Moncrieff
