Design and Technology Assessments

Students are assessed as follows:
Key Stage 3
Year 7:  Three elements – wood, metal and sketching
Practical work is assessed over the course of the year. Homework is marked and contributes to the assessment score. Summary assessment at the end of the sketching module also contributes.
Year 8:  Three elements – wood, plastics and designing
Practical work is assessed over the course of the year. Homework is marked and contributes to the assessment score. 
Key Stage 4
Year 9:  Practical work is assessed over the course of the year. Homework and theory quizzes contribute to assessment scores.
Year 10:  Practice NEA (50%, written exam, 1 hour 45 mins, 30% design folder, 20% practical)
Year 11:
Written Exam (50%, 1 hour 45mins)
NEA (50%, starts in July of year 10, ends at Easter year 11 – practical design and make project)
