At Biddenham, we have a large and inclusive Sixth Form in which everyone is encouraged to fulfil their academic and personal potential. Despite our steady growth, we pride ourselves on understanding the individual as well as being a friendly place to learn. Students settle in quickly and easily, whether or not they have been with us in Year 11.
We pride ourselves on our successful careers programme, with the vast majority of our students leaving school with good qualifications and clear guidance on their chosen career pathways. As a sixth form we actively encourage our students to explore the range of career pathways available to them at university or through higher level apprenticeships. It was noted in our most recent Ofsted inspection (March 2019) that “Current students are making good progress in the sixth form overall, and particularly strong progress in their vocational courses. A high proportion of students go on to university.”
We understand the many pressures that are placed on young people in today's society and believe that our pastoral care and focus on student health and wellbeing is second to none. Our students have access to a wide variety of extra-curricular activities across many aspects of school life from STEM subjects through the Performing Arts, as well as weekly wellbeing sessions for all sixth form students.
It is important that the student experience at Biddenham is not solely focussed on their academic potential but also their personal development. All students are part of our ‘Study Skills’ programme delivered as part of the school curriculum. These are key to ensuring that each student has access to the most up to date information on study skills, university/apprenticeship applications, wellbeing, career development and can gain a wider understanding of today's society.
